An Ecosystem of Interdependence

Holy Trinity is home to a congregation. But the life inside this building extends far beyond Sunday morning.

Since our founding in 1904, Holy Trinity’s sense of connectedness to the local community has been a central piece of our mission and identity. We believe it is vitally important that we remain connected to the pulse of life in our neighborhood.

Together with the Minnesota Swahili Christian Congregation we share our space with:

  • Metro Work Center, supporting adults with developmental disabilities
  • Soup for You, a daily soup kitchen serving 25,000 meals each year
  • Bright Prospects Cooperative Preschool, a cooperative preschool that has run for 75 years that stresses playing, learning, and community building
  • AARP Tax Aide, providing tax assistance for seniors in the neighborhood
  • CTUL (Centro de Trabajadores Unidos en Lucha), a worker-led community organization that organizes, educates, and empowers neighbors usually not connected to unions.
  • City of Minneapolis Elections, a precinct site for regular and special elections
  • Longfellow Alternative High School, a high school catering to students who need childcare to complete their education
  • Longfellow Healthy Seniors, a neighborhood nonprofit enabling seniors to live healthy, independent, and socially connected lives
  • Morris Park Singers, providing a choral experience for people looking for creative outlets
  • South Minneapolis Meals on Wheels, daily home delivery of a nutritious meal for shut-ins delivered by friendly community members
  • Pangea World Theater, creating accessible multidisciplinary theater that challenges colonizing mindsets and creates community solidarity
  • Music for Food, a community choir that offers concerts to raise money for food pantries in the neighborhood
  • American Red Cross, provides onsite blood collection
  • MN350, a community nonprofit concentrating on climate and clean energy issues in Minnesota
  • Inquilinxs Unidxs, working with tenant associations to provide permanent, cooperative-oriented housing for people who are economically marginalized
  • Girl Scouts, providing a site for a neighborhood troop’s regular meetings
  • Longfellow Community Council, a citizen-participation nonprofit serving residents and businesses in the Greater Longfellow neighborhood
  • ICOM (Minnesota Interfaith Coalition on Immigration, a grassroots nonprofit that engages in courageous spiritual, multicultural action in solidarity with immigrants and refugees to achieve justice and stand up to systems of oppression
  • Voices of Hope, a Minnesota Prison music initiative
  • Unidos MN, an organization building power with working class families
  • Sisters Camelot, a collective focused on distributing free organic groceries and serving free healthy prepared food
  • Ring Out! Handbell Ensemble, the first handbell group created by and for LGBTQIA+ ringers and allies

Minnesota Swahili Christian Congregation

A Lutheran worship service in the Swahili language has been meeting at Holy Trinity for many years on Sunday afternoons at 12:00 pm. Pastor Andrea Mwalilino, originally from Tanzania, serves as the pastor for the Minnesota Swahili Christian Congregation. This ministry welcomes all Swahili speakers and people from east African countries who now live in the Twin Cities area.

The congregation has a youth director who works with the many young people and also has an active women’s ministry. We love the opportunity to celebrate in community – so we have many celebrations, meals, and events following our weekly worship services. We hope you will join us!

Usharika Wa Kiswahili Wa Kikristo Minnesota

Usharika wa Kiswahili wa Kikristo Minnesota umekuwa ukikutana Holy Trinity Lutheran Church na kutoa huduma ya ibada yao kwa lugha ya Kiswahili kila Jumapili saa sita mchana kwa miaka mingi. Mchungaji Andrea Mwalilino ambaye ni mchungaji kutoka Tanzania ndiye mchungaji kiongozi wa usharika huu. Usharika wa Kiswahili Minnesota unawakaribisha watu wote wanaozungumza Kiswahili kutoka nchi za Afrika Mashariki wanaoishi miji pacha ya Minneapolis na St.Paul, Minnesota kujumuika pamoja katika kumwabudu Mungu na kutangaza Injili ya habari njema za wokovu.

Usharika unatoa huduma kwa vijana, kipa Imara, shule ya Jumapili, Idara ya wananwake, idara ya wanaume na huduma zingine zotezinazohitajika.Usharika unayo furaha kuwahudumia watu wote wanaohitaji huduma katikaJamii yetu ya wazungumza Kiswahili. Kwa pamoja kama jamii tunafurahia sana kukutana na kufanya shughuli mbalimbali za kijamii kama sherehe, kula pamoja na kushiriki matukio mengi yanayotokea katika jamii yetu na katika kila siku ya Ibada Jumapili.
